Sea To Summit Aeros Pillow Premium Review
It’s well put together, easy to inflate, and very comfortable. Ultimately, it’s totally worth the price.
This review is for anyone looking to have some comfort without too much weight. Backpackers are the primary market but it would also make a great addition to a bug out bag or another survival kit. Combined with a small sleeping bag it would make your nights much more enjoyable than just huddling under something like a tarp.
Never underestimate the benefits of a good night’s sleep.
The Sea To Summit Aeros Pillow Premium weights in right around 4 oz. so it’s extremely light. Rolled up and placed in its stuff sack, it’s right around 3″ x 4″ so it hardly takes up any space as well.
The exterior is covered in a polyester knit with a synthetic layer between the exterior and the inflatable bladder under it. This makes it more comfortable and has the added benefit of wicking away moisture.
The top of the pillow softly curves on the sides in order to cradle your head and the bottom edge is angled to help keep the pillow centered.
It also features a valve system that makes filling the pillow a breeze. The valve also allows for controlled deflation to make finding that perfect level of firmness really easy.
The biggest thing that the Sea To Summit Aeros Pillow Premium has going for it is its size and weight.
The knit covering does a good job of making it more comfortable than a lot of other inflatable pillows that I’ve used and it also helps make it less noisy than other inflatable pillows. If you’ve ever tried sleeping on an inflatable pillow in the past, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
The whole pillow can be inflated in three deep breaths thanks to the large one-way valve system on the bottom of the pillow. Being able to get this thing inflated fast without any problems at the end of a long day is a great feeling.
It isn’t the most expensive hiking pillow on the market, but it also isn’t the cheapest. If you’re looking for something dirt cheap, this isn’t for you.
Reading some reviews, it seems like there was a quality issue a few years ago. Having seen about 9 of the current production pillows, I haven’t experienced a single leak or defect. Your mileage may vary.
Other inflatable pillows with more padding and fill can be more comfortable. The Aeros makes a few compromises due to its size and weight.
Keeping a Sea To Summit Aeros Pillow Premium in your pack on a long backpacking adventure or shoving one in a little bit of leftover space in your bug out bag will give you a little added comfort when you need it.
A pillow may not keep you alive in an emergency, but it can definitely add a little bit of comfort when you need it most. If you’re looking for a light, comfortable pillow then this one will not disappoint.
